Recently, the application of PalletPal 360 in beverage DC distribution center benefits customers a lot. The operation process of the distribution center is very typical, and the efficiency has been greatly improved since the use of our lifting platform. Therefore, we summarize the specific operation of the center and share it with you.
-
In a beverage DC smaller orders (less than a full pallet) are picked by hand, stacked usually on pallets using a fork lift or electric walkie to traverse between pick slots.
-
Many major beverage companies (i.e., Coke, Pepsi, etc.) offer 100’s
SKU’s (brand, size, packaging, etc.) creating lots of smaller orders
-
The handler can be picking product from a pallet on the floor, turning and setting it on a pallet on the floor (electric walkie). Beverages in a pallet rack make access, bending and reaching even more difficult.
-
Cases of beverages, bottles or cans weigh 7 to 20 lbs. Fountain syrup cartons weigh 40 to 70 lbs. each.
-
A handler can pick and place 150 to 200 cases per hour …. handling +20,000 lbs. in a shift Employers must hire only those most physically fit….and even then, turnover is high.
-
Order picking is an injury prone task – a high risk job.
-
DC’s often work night shifts for order fulfillment so trucks are loaded for morning deliveries.
-
No air conditioning, but better DC’s have fans.
-
There is no electrical or compressed air available service in most areas of the DC.
-
Mechanical equipment must be highly reliable because maintenance is lacking and mostly handled by outside contractors
-
Shelving, rack and floor storage must be flexible for constantly changing beverage types and inventory levels.
-
Carbonated beverages shelf life is limited requiring stock rotation further complicating inventory management
Why choose PalletPal 360?

Reduces back bending (leveling) and reduces reaching out (turntable) both by as much as 50%.
